Enjoying Tradition.

This challenging project required the manual demolition of a typical Spanish village house in considerable disrepair followed by its reconstruction.
The owners original proposal was to reform the house but after much discussion and a structural evaluation it was decided that, to demolish the house completely and then re build it, would prove the most advantageous and provide a better return for investment.
One considerable benefit to this approach was that it allowed the owners to tailor the distribution to better meet their requirements. The final result is a comfortable and spacious home of 215m2 designed with accommodation for the owners, a separate annexe for elderly parents as well accommodation for their carers.
In total the property boasts five bedrooms with en suite facilities two living rooms plus kitchen and internal courtyard all within the footprint of the original house. The new house enjoys the benefits of a a solid construction with insulation and damp proofing as befitting its modern construction, however, incorporates features in keeping with its original character including beamed arched ceilings and Juliette balconies. A requirement of the Mayor and town hall planning department was that the original wrought iron railings at the facade, once refurbished, should be re instated.
All work was carried out in the absence of the owner with the exception of two visits when tiles and finishes were chosen.
